Saturday August 23rd 2003
When a young Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. stood on the steps
of the Lincoln Memorial in 1963 and delivered his now famous
"I Have A Dream Speech" that inspired people around
the world, it was a voice already familiar to Pacifica listeners.
Pacifica Radio has recorded the civil rights movement in this
country virtually since its' inception. Rosa Parks discussing
her refusal to give up her seat to a white man in 1962 is
a part of Pacifica's
WBAI Archives.
