KPFK 90.7 FMs Popular Radio Program,
Uprising, to Begin National Syndication
Daily Los Angeles program will release a weekly version
NORTH HOLLYWOOD (July 23) — With new voices, a fresh
perspective, and a broader news cycle, Uprising
announces the beginning of a weekly version for weekend broadcast,
containing the best material from the daily morning drive-time
public affairs show in Los Angeles.
A daily news magazine, Uprising aims to bring long-run context,
background, history, and debate to enrich current events.
Uprising focuses on the issues of immigration, sexism and
violence against women, international trade, activism, climate
change, racism, indigenous rights, and artistic expression.
It aims to give voice to debates, discussions, and disputes
among progressives, covering the range from strategy and vision
to praxis and ideology.
Uprising is produced at Pacifica Station KPFK
by Thatcher Collins (director) and Sonali Kolhatkar (host).
Every week, Uprising features two commentaries, one from
veteran radio commentator, Glen Ford of BlackCommentator.com,
bringing us “political dialogue that is absolutely essential
to the creation of movements for social change” from
a black perspective. The other commentary comes from Rahul
Mahajan of the blog empirenotes.org,
and author of “Full Spectrum Dominance: U.S. Power in
Iraq and Beyond.”

The national version of Uprising is designed to be aired
anytime during the weekend, Friday through Sunday, when public
affairs options are thin.
It will be released every Friday before 2pm, PST, available
on Pacifica’s AudioPort.org,
and eventually via FTP. Uprising will be pre-packaged for
59 minutes, tracked for convenience, and contain at least
2 minutes of break music for station IDs and promos.
- College and community radio stations are free to air
Uprising for non-profit use.
You can listen to our live daily program from 8AM - 9AM PST
