Description: Housing Notebook: advice on tenants rights, decent affordable housing and related urban affairs coverage, with call-ins. Credits: Scott Sommer has been a tenants rights activist for over 20 years. A former legal services attorney, Sommer is the chair of the Metropolitan Council on Housing, New York's oldest tenant union. Sommer currently is an international representative for the United Auto Workers. Vajra Kilgour has been involved in tenant struggles since the late 1960s. She has been co-chair of the 515-521 West 122nd Street Tenants' Association for over ten years, and has worked as a tenant organizer in Harlem and the South Bronx. She has been a member of the board of directors of the Metropolitan Council on Housing since 1998 (currently a vice chair), and served on the first board of directors of the Harlem Tenants Council.
