In response to a state-wide work stoppage in Oaxaca, Mexico,
plainclothes police unleashed a bloody massacre last Friday. 3 people are confirmed dead, with scores wounded in the shooting. Among the dead is Brad Will, a video journalist with the NYC Independent Media
Center. The killings are now being used as a pretext by the Mexican
federal government to launch an military incursion into Oaxaca City by troops now assembling outside the City.
On 6-14 Oaxaca's governor Ulises Ruiz Ortiz sent in state police to break a teachers' strike that was camped out in the center of Oaxaca City. This further ignited people’s anger throughout the State who reinforced the teachers' encampment in Oaxaca City. They are
calling for the resignation of Gov. Ruiz. In the last 5 months, at least 12 people have been killed by State police and paramilitary forces. Trackback(0)
