With Herman Benson, Founder & Sec’y, Assn. for Union Democracy
NYC Central Labor Council President Brian McLaughlin, was indicted
on Oct 17 for stealing millions of dollars from the Council itself, from his IBEW Local 3, from assorted political committees and a Queens Little League. He allegedly accepted kickbacks from contractors in a bid
rigging scheme and to allow them to hire non union workers. McLaughlin initially voluntarily took a 6-month paid leave of absence from the CLC.
But upon his indictment, the Council suspended his pay. Now the CLC
is proposing ethics seminars for state and city leaders and increased oversight by the CLC Board. The AFL-CIO is already has Ethical Practices Codes but where is the enforcement ? Trackback(0)
