Program Guide Pearl Harbor: Day of Deceit Pearl Harbor: Day of Deceit 2007-12-06Audio of entire show: Related Tags: Other segments from this show: Did President Franklin D. Roosevelt deliberately provoke the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor? Did he withhold intelligence of the coming attack from the U.S. commanders at Pearl Harbor? In this "History Counts" edition, our guest Robert Stinnett, author of "Day of Deceit: the Truth about FDR and Pearl Harbor," answers these controversial questions and reveals the "smoking gun" which he discovered in his search of U.S. government records never examined by Congress - an October 7, 1940 memo of the Office of Naval Intelligence setting forth the steps later taken to provoke Japan's attack and bring the United States into World War II. Mr. Stinnett is a consultant on the Pacific War for the BBC and a Research Fellow at The Independent Institute, a non-profit public policy research organization. This week's Sprouts edition was produced by Ken MacDermotRoe and Dave Schwartz for "History Counts", a monthly series examining important historical figures and events which are largely ignored or misunderstood. It originates at WPKN 89.5 FM, Bridgeport, CT/WPKM 88.7 FM, Montauk, NY. For more information, go to www.historycounts.org. Trackback(0)
