Midnight Run (www.MidnightRun.org) is a homeless support organization based in Dobbs Ferry, New York, just north of New York City. In this week's Sprouts, we go along on a Midnight Run, and talk to Midnight Run volunteers as they bring food, clothing, and companionship to the street homeless of Manhattan.

We also hear from Dale Williams, Midnight Run's executive director, who was homeless himself when Midnight Run volunteers approached him with help.

Midnight Run believes that solving the problem of homelessness involves more than feeding and clothing those without a place to live. The group changes lives by bringing people who have homes into direct contact with people without homes--and putting a human face on a growing urban problem.

This week's Sprouts edition was produced Marc Sophos and Christine Potter at WDFH in Dobbs Ferry, New York, and was originally aired October 5, 2006.
