The original Winter Soldier was held in 1971 and featured the testimony of dozens of Vietnam veterans. Thirty seven years later, Iraq Vets Against the War held this event just outside Washington, DC over the weekend of March 15th, 2008. It served as a public investigation of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and featured four days of testimony. The voices in this episode of Sprouts are from the Rules of Engagement panel. It covered the killing and injuring of civilians and unarmed combatants, as well as the destruction of property, infrastructure, and natural resources of Iraq and Afghanistan. This panel was one of many from Winter Soldier. The full audio archives from the broadcast - more than 25 hours - are online at WarComesHome.org. This edition of Sprouts was produced by Nathan Moore at Pacifica Radio with assistance from Eric Klein of KPFA, using excerpts from last week's live Winter Soldier broadcast hosted by Aimee Allison and Aaron Glantz, produced by Esther Manilla, and engineered by Jon Almeleh.
