Dennis Bernstein: introduction: Jody Williams on banning landmines..
civil disobeidience at Boeing yesterday.. two journalists
arrested and roughed up in Oakland.
8:01:00 PM PST
Robert Knight and the Knight Report.. Robert: torture, murder,
and suicide for prisoners of Bush.. in Turkey, some small
assistance for US war plans.. British Jack Straw.. Blair now
has fear of future war crimes.. Iraq remains in compliance
with destruction of missiles.. stateless victims of Afghanistan
war.. none legally charged.. the 20th suicide attempt.. international
law out the window.. a legal black hole in inhumane conditions..
two prisoners taken by the US killed due to 'blunt force trauma'..
8:05:19 PM PST
Dennis: yesterday actions against Bush's war plans around
the country.. now w/ Amy Moonie of Voices in the Wilderness,
and Sister Simone Campbell of Jericho.. Amy: we entered the
world headquarters of Boeing here in Chicago.. placed photographs
of children who had died.. and poured ashes on them.. on Ash
Wednesday.. we were charged with criminal trespassing.. Dennis:
the Pope sent a messenger to Bush.. Sister Campbell: as far
as the significance, very significant.. that the president
continues to seal himself off from the world is very disappointing..
Amy: the police were very courteous, and three criminal justice
workers told us they support us.. Dennis: Blair's wife, an
attorney, advised him that he would be in violation of international
law.. Sister: this unilateral action is undermining.. and
is wrong.. anything that can be done to change the hearts
of these leaders needs to be done..
8:12:19 PM PST
Dennis: another showdown tomorrow at the UN.. UK's Jack Straw..
now w Phillis Bennis of the Institute for Policy Studies..
Phillis: there is still the possibility still that war could
be avoided through compromise.. the US under enormous pressure..
clear that the US will not get nine votes.. the US has failed..
can a way be found to save Bush face?.. they are clearly desparate..
the so-called Coalition of the Willing.. billions of bribes
not enough to win over Turkey.. going on too in Cameroon..
because of the second superpower today, public opinion.. about
Blix's address tomorrow.. his tone will be important.. the
US dismissal of Iraq's destruction of the missiles has backfired
on the US, particularly Ari Fleicher's false assertion that
Iraq had hidden the missiles.. if Bush attacks anyway, hundreds
of thousands of Iraqi civilians will die, destruction will
be massive.. in the US the increased danger of terrorist attacks..
the US will be isolated internationally.. a roque state, acting
without even the pretence of legality..

we marched peacefully down the street.. police began driving
their motorcycles into the crowd, running over people's feet,
running into people, stuff we had never seen before.. I have
never heard of anything like this since apartheid.. why?..
this rally was predominantly kids of color.. but at least
one of the brutal cops was a cop of color.. about Rashida's
arrest.. a terrorist attack on kids, on us.. [indymedia report
/ and video].. Dennis: people may want to contact Oakland's
*pro-peace* mayor, Jerry Brown.. Phone: 510 238-3141; Fax:
510 238-4731; or Email the Mayor | Do it again!
