Day (Mar 17) invasion of Iraq getting no green light from
the UN.. France and Russia both declare they will veto current
draft resolution.. Pakistan has decided to abstain.. African
members Cameroon and Guinea may nay.. Kofi Annan warns US
that unilateral action would be outside the UN charter.. pressure
on Turkey increases..

Dennis: Clare Shore, a member of Tony Blair's cabinet threatens
to quit if Blair follows Bush.. now w British MP Jeremy Corbin..
Jeremy: she said she thought Blair and Bush were behaving
recklessly.. and Blair doesn't feel strong enough to fire
her.. Blair may back out completely.. Dennis: could there
be a full scale rebellion in the Labour Party?.. Jeremy: yes,
we've underestimated the strength and depth of British opposition
to this war.. both in the street demonstrations and in the
Labour Party.. many British military strategists here see
little point in this war.. and many wonder what happens next?..
and now we're learning the monetary expense of it all will
be just enormous.. Blair was interviewed this evening on the
telly, and got a rough ride from the audience.. last Wednesday
the road outside Tony Blair's office was blocked by students..
opposition to the war is stronger than ever in this country..
about the reasons behind Blair's support for Bush.. about
the potential downside to a war against Iraq (lists many)..
one: the Al-Queda's of tomorrow will grow out of the rubble
of Iraq..

Dennis: Palestine now has a *Prime Minister*.. now w Ali Abunimah
founder of the Electronic Intifada website.. Ali: ridiculous,
to have a Prime Minister you have to have a government and
a state.. I can't see the difference between this and the
(Frency) Vichy government that operated under the Nazis..
ABU MAZEN, THE NEW PM IS A CREATION OF US AND ISRAEL.. HAS
SPOKEN OUT ABOUT *CANCELLING* THE IRREVOCABLE PALESTINIAN
HUMAN 'RIGHT OF RETURN'.. he is being imposed by a leader
who lacks legitimacy, Arafat.. Dennis: Arafat, once again,
selling out his people.. Ali: he controls nothing, inspires
nothing.. he is just useless.. the Palestinians hate him..
the fire sale of Palestinian rights, he did nothing to stop
it.. just a way for Israel to cast the Palestinians.. Dennis:
NPR saying great for Palestinians if US goes to war against
Iraq.. Ali: the idea that more war creates peace, silly..
and the new Palestinian PM, will that stop the occupation..
each new Gulf War strenthens Israel's hand.. to dictate to
the Arabs.. didn't work in 1991, won't work now.. a situation
where 4.5 million Israeli Jews have all the power, and 5 million
Palestinians have none.. how many black PMs did South Africa
appoint?.. the only solution is for Israel to give up their
elitist racist dreams and implement one person, one vote..
WE HAVE DAILY WAR CRIMES, DAILY VIOLATIONS OF THE GENEVA CONVENTION..
EACH WEEK, TEN, TWENTY, THIRTY PALESTINIANS BEING KILLED..
WHAT IS GOING ON IS ETHNIC CLEANSING BY SLIGHT, A LITTLE BIT
HERE, A LITTLE BIT THERE.. ISRAEL'S GAME IS ALWAYS TO PUSH
MORE AND MORE.. we can pretend our hands are clean in this
affair.. but as tax day approaches.. this a government run
by what President Bush calls 'a man of peace'.. repeated attacks
on journalists.. CNN refused to report about their own reporter
getting shot to appease Israel.. Bush on TV told journalists
in Iraq 'to leave'.. Israel will try to get away with more
and more, while the attention is turned to Iraq.. Dennis:
Jewish settlers offering tours of the West Bank for tourists..
Ali: Mossad training Americans to conduct acts of terror on
Arabs.. Let's see if Ashcroft investigates that.. all the
forces are working to keep people in the dark..

I think Americans need to look into their souls.. this report
is so upsetting.. what I'm really feeling, how do people who
are listening to this show feel?, does this move them?.. do
you think we should not be speaking up about this?.. think
there are no linkages between what is happening in Iraq and
Palestine?.. I am disgusted by this report.. I can not imagine
anyone going over and being part.. same as me flying over
to spend a week with the Nazis in 1938.. open your hearts
and think clearly about what is happening to Palestinians..
I got a call last night from my old time driver in Gaza..
his home was blown up, his brother's home, his parents home,
four homes blown up because his cousin was accused of being
a member of Hamas.. Abu Mazen is a multi multi millionaire,
made his money selling cement to build illegal Israeli settlements..
Arafat and Abu Mazen are flunkies living in corrupt splendor..
while the regular people live in squallor.. now w Dan in Oakland:

to Palestinians now is very much like what happened to Jews
during the first 5-6 years of Nazism.. quoting Israel Shamaz

it is split.. some are in the peace movement, and some Jews
believe in 'Israel right or wrong'.. and many others are afraid

be active, I call them the greedy creeps in control of the
world right now.. now w Brice from SF: do Jewish voices need
to stand up more?.. Barbara: they are rising up.. see: Jewish
Voices for Peace.. but Jews are only 3% of the population
of the US.. it is up to every person who pays taxes.. now
with Tony in South Hampton: how about petitioning countries
around the world to get the UN to pass a resolution.. Barbara:
OK idea, but 120 resolutions against Israel over the years
that they already ignore.. WHAT YOU CAN DO? GET OUT ON THE
