Dennis Bernstein: introduction: Tony Blair facing rebellion.. criminal prosecution for British NSA whistleblower.. Kathy Kelly in Baghdad.. Robert Fisk in Beruit.. info on this weekend's peace rallies..

8:00:47 PM PST
Robert Knight and the Knight Report.. Robert: frustrated Bush drops a bomb on Florida.. stalemate at the UN.. even India and Pakistan oppose Iraq war.. British government under pressure to publish legal advice it has been given.. Turkey still debating support.. Europe's top human rights court chides Turkey for punishment of Kurdish leader.. Russian and EU aid packages threatened by the US.. 22,000 pound bomb tested in Florida.. NYC council votes to oppose Iraq war.

8:06:03 PM PST
Dennis: now w Martin Bright of the London Observer.. Tony Blair didn't use the opening provided by Rumsfeld to step back from the edge.. Blair won in a landslide his first election.. has no real opposition, but has seemed to box himself in a corner.. frittering away the faith the British public had in him, a death wish of sorts.. about the top secret US National Security Ageny (NSA) memo Bright helped publish last week about the US ordering surveillance and dirty tricks against UN Security Council members.. clearly the real story was not the spying, but that someone somewhere had decided to blow the whistle.. and on Saturday a Brit was arrested.. a 28 year old woman.. will be a significant spying trial.. I can confirm, however, that this woman is not our source for the leak.. but whoever it was that brought this to our attention, was very brave.. can the Observer reporters be sued by the government? yes, but we will not reveal our sources.. we too face a possible two year sentence..

8:16:04 PM PST
Dennis: now w Kathy Kelly of Voices in the Wilderness in Baghdad.. Kathy: yesterday two of our people were at a maternity hospital, and returned disturbed.. eight women opted for ceasarian section to avoid maybe having to give natural birth during a US bombing attack next week, and six women aborted.. about the big bomb dropped in Florida.. the UN pulling out today, leaving the Iraqi people helpless.. yesterday morning I said goodbye to the family of the woman painter, headed for Syria.. going off without enough money, only has the name of one person.. those who dug wells are finding that the water is not potable.. we deeply appreciate every civil disobeidiance and teach-in in the USA.. Bush is simplistic thinking, but Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, and Perle know better.. but we do still hold out some hope in the UN.. more websites: ElectronicIraq.net.. IraqPeaceTeam.org.. IraqJournal.org.. antiwar.com.. commondreams.org

8:26:00 PM PST
Dennis: is there going to be war?.. now w British journalist, Robert Fisk.. Robert: I think Bush wants a war and he will get one, and it will be disastrous.. originally we were told the Americans wanted the inspectors back on the ground, but Hans Blix has become the nightmare headmaster to the White House.. the US administration doesn't want to hear his reports.. this war may destroy Tony Blair, one the few good elements to this war.. and it will be a disaster for the Middle East, for American policy in the Middle East, for the EU, and for NATO.. what do the Iraqis really want?.. Bush says democracy.. but what do the Iraqis want?.. take Basra, a Shiite Muslim society in Southern Iraq.. do you think they will want to live under US occupation?.. do you think the Kurds in the north will want to live under Turkish occupation?.. there could be civil war between Shiites and Sunnis.. Napolean liberated Egypt 'from tyranny'.. over and over again the West arrives to liberate the people of the Middle East from tyranny.. and establishes more tyranny.. about the NPR claim that with a quick win for Bush in Iraq, he will be position to create peace for Palestine.. Robert: we saw what happened when Blair tried to call a peace conference in London, Sharon wouldn't even let the Palestinian leadership attend.. so much for Blair, so much for Mideast peace..

8:44:53 PM PST
Dennis: now w Gloria Uriba, a member of ANSWER, sponsor of this weeks peace march and rally in SF, just back from England and a gathering of peace activists from 27 countries.. EVENT: this Saturday, gather at 11AM Civic Center Plaza, march to Jefferson Park..

8:54:00 PM PST
