Dennis: Sharon tactics on Nablus draconian.. now w International
Soliditary Movement's Anne Gywnn.. Anne: I'm in Nablus, since
the 28 of December.. an incredible atmosphere here, but a
city under seige.. 411 day of seige.. almost constant lockdown..
unbelievable that a city of 250,000 can be under lockdown
for over a year.. the Israelis come into the city at will,
usually at night.. taken 12 girls recently.. no reason.. have
taken 25,300 men, most of them back yet.. 200 though received
terms of 700 years, and no contact.. almost two people a day
have been killed here.. a major push the last few days.. everyday
there have been killings of youth, children, adults, including
the murder of my very good friend.. a journalist.. I was standing
with him.. the Israelis targeted him.. the right side of his
head blown off.. a large man.. a tank had gotten stuck in
a narrow street.. we were photographing.. children throwing
small stones.. a soldier took aim at my friend, and shot him
in the right eye.. I have pictures, showing the size of every
stone, that anyone could have been killed over these small
stones is outrageous.. I was there.. Dennis: about the Israeli
attacks on ISM members and journalists?.. Anne: I would be
happy if my daughter came here tomorrow.. although some ISM
members have been attacked, I don't feel more nervous.. no
one here is afraid, extraordinary really.. 150 soldiers, jeeps,
tanks, Apache helicopters came to arrest one man.. a good
friend of mine.. demolished the house on top of them, two
men fought off.. today killed another dear friend.. with rockets..
in Balata, a tank, APC and jeep, parked them by a mosque..
stayed there until the children started throwing stones..
shot, injured very badly 7 children.. and killed a 14 year
old.. then they just left.. entrapment of children.. about
the economic, food, school situtation.. this is a huge city,
formerly the powerhouse of the West Bank.. had 300 factories..
fashion center, holiday center, administration center.. now
250 factories in ruins.. most stores destroyed.. the Israelis
shoot through stores.. no jobs, 80% unemployment.. no income..
everything is devastated.. 14,000 houses damaged.. thousand
years old monuments, buildings, intentionally targeted and
destroyed.. the soldiers are afraid of being attacked by children
throwing stones.. they blow holes in the walls of home.. drove
a tank over the garden wall, over the olive trees, drove into
the house and parked the tank on the living room carpet..
little medicine.. and a problem getting fresh food.. trucks
kept at the checkpoint.. some trucks held four days, the food
rots.. Dennis: all we hear in the US is that the Israelis
are just defending themselves.. Anne: this must be the biggest
deception in history.. where are the Israelis?.. who has the
tanks, the APCs, the Apaches, the F16s.. what do the Palestinians
have? a few old guns.. no freedom fighter with their weapon,
have ever attacked Israeli civilians.. the Israeli gunmen
are illegally occupying, illegally killing.. in defiance of
69 UN resolutions.. it is absolutely outrageous, Dennis, absolutely
outrageous..

For Peace .. on his way back to Bogata, Colombia.. on
the impact of Plan Colombia.. about the capture of US agents
by FARC rebels.. Phillip: three months ago.. four US contractors
flying over FARC area.. their plane went down.. one killed,
the other three taken into custody.. the US says the contractors
were doing surveillance work.. Colombia going all out just
to rescue three US citizens.. in the current climate of patriotism
in the US, what would be the US reaction to the killing or
capture of US military men.. and would Hugo Chavez be blamed?..
we've seen the US role go from support for the so-called 'War
on Drugs' to support for counter-terrorism.. mission creep..
about the Occidental Petroleum pipeline being protected..
the Colombian military cooperates with the paramilitaries..
carrying out massacres.. about the fumigation program, spraying
chemicals on fields were it is suspected coca is being grown..
Roundup Ultra.. made by Monsanto.. additional ingredients
being added.. no tests have been done on these additional
ingredients.. the impact on human health and the environment..
the US EPA said that the State Department would not give them
access to information about the chemicals actually being used..
about the lawsuit by a group of Ecuadorian farmers who say
the spray come over the border and killed sheep and children..
acres and acres of corn crops decimated.. pools of dead fish..
devastating.. the poor farmers have to flee.. pushing coca
production back to Peru and Bolivia and other parts of Colombia..
there is more cheap, more pure available cocaine here in the
US than ever before.. more non-violent drug prisonsers locked
up here in the US, that all prisoners in the EU.. the US supporting
the paramilitaries.. 70% of human rights violations are carried
out by the paramilitaries.. not to justify what the rebels
are doing.. send a 11 year boy to ride his bike by a police
station, and blew him up.. about human rights violations by
the Cuban government.. compared to the Colombian government
and Israel.. Phillip: Please support, join Witness

Dennis: a Maxxam Pacific Lumber ad campaign portrays tree
sitters, environmentalists as terrorists.. in response, 60
petitioners have called for the cessation of the ads.. now
w famous tree sitter, Remedy, and Earth First activist Karen
Pickett.. Remedy: can you characterize tree sitting as extreme?..
not as extreme as cutting all the old growth trees left in
the world.. I was sitting 361 days.. until forcably removed..
by contracted tree climbers.. some tree sitters have been
assaulted.. stepped on, hit.. 200 feet above the ground..
Karen: Gandhi and Martin Luther King, Jr. were used in the
Maxxam ads.. really pandemonium up there.. Maxxam trying to
whip up.. against anyone who would dare to oppose their logging
activities.. like Cointelpro tactics.. an emotional climate
up there.. Maxxam has been overcutting.. laying off workers
and hiring them back as contract workers so they don't have
to pay benefits.. Remedy: increased flooding in the watersheds..
some families trapped for days in their homes.. Karen: Pacific
Lumber ordered to bring in potable water for some residents..
all this mudflow, into small farms.. Pacific Lumber is not
a good neighbor, and their campaign is backfiring.. a letter
being circulated.. to stop the ads.. and the FBI intimidating
people, visiting the tree sitters.. we are also circulation
a letter in the Bay Area.. the MLK center wants Maxxam to
stop using the image of MLK.. the district attorney has filed
a lawsuit against Maxxam, for fraud.. EVENT: 8PM Friday, Ashkenaz
