8:00:00 PM PST
Dennis Bernstein: introduction: Ariel Sharon talks peace, but moves to destroy more homes, and destroy the International Solidarity Movement (ISM) peacemakers office in the West Bank .. with Adam Shapiro and Barbara Lubin.. Anne Gwynne report on the road to Jerusalem.. Excerpt from the excellent new documentary by the National Lawyers Guild on Israel's invasion of the West Bank last spring..

8:00:41 PM PST
Dennis: Israel attacks and destroys the ISM center in the West Bank.. now w ISM member, Adam Shapiro and Middle East Children's Alliance founder, Barbara Lubin.. Adam: in Beit Sahour.. in the middle of the day.. Israeli jeeps and 20 APCs surrounded, churches, tourist agencies.. guns pointed all around.. raided the ISM offices.. (ISM press release) (ISM: what you can do) (Harretz) (Freedom Summer).. arrested two ISM activists and one Human Rights Watch member.. smashed computers, took ISM reports and computers.. pictures, took photographs, including photos of Rachel Corrie before and after.. took ISM member records.. nothing secretive about our files.. about the two arrested, one US, one Aussie.. we don't know their status.. two other activists being held at a checkpoint at the border for 28 hours.. trying to get into Gaza to get their stuff and go back to England.. a Palestinian woman arrested.. a meeting was scheduled tomorrow of ISM members at the office.. one of the first step Israel is supposed to take on 'the roadmap' is let humanitarian organizations operate unfettered.. about the new waiver that foreigners are required to sign when entering the West Bank or Gaza, absolving the Israeli army of any responsibility for injury or death at their hands.. Barbara: what are ISM people saying, will they say they sign the waiver?.. Adam: we are discussing it.. it's just a piece of paper.. (Amnesty International's position).. Israel's obligation under international law is to protect everyone under occupation.. signing, not signing not much difference.. Barbara: British foreign secretary Jack Straw's statement today says the waiver is nonsense, the British are angry.. Will I sign? We are discussing, I'm leaning to sign and going in.. the Israeli government.. indiscriminate vicious killings have to stop.. Dennis: the Israelis willing to kill anyone who opposes occupation.. Adam: ask 'what does Israel have to hide?' - incumbent on American and European Jews to.. join ISM.. to end the violence.. pick up the challenge.. the 'Birthright Israel' program will even send you free.. Barbara: not just Jews, but the responsibility of all American citizens.. all our tax dollars.. Human Rights Watch very critical of this roadmap..

8:15:20 PM PST
Dennis: now a series of short reports from Welsh nurse, ISM member, Flashpoints special correspondent, Anne Gwynne.. Anne: 1) picked up by a friendly taxi, but now they have closed the road.. on the other side of the road, Israeli jeeps, cars, traveling freely.. the temperature 38 degrees C.. walking 45 kilometers to Jerusalem.. 2) this other way, also partially blocked.. huge mounds, surrounded by shells of wrecked cars.. we are walking.. how they manage to disrupt the daily life here is incredible.. all the roads changed everyday.. no one knows where they are.. all the road signs taken now, the only road sign are in Hebrew.. this must be deliberate policy.. Oh, my god, we've got soldiers down here with tanks.. 3) Hello, Dennis, we finally arrived after being held by soldiers in the blazing sun for 45 minutes.. covered in mud, had to climb over a huge mud bank, and through a huge mud pool.. this is how they destroy daily life in Palestine..

8:19:37 PM PST
