Dennis Bernstein and Leslie Kean: Special correspondent Anne Gwynne documents another day of violence in the occupied West Bank, also, a brand new speech by Voices In The Wilderness founder Kathy Kelly, and an interview with Congressman and Peace Candidate Dennis Kucinich, who is on a national tour to reclaim the conscience in US politics:

8:00:45 PM PST
Leslie: First, we start with the continuing violence in the West Bank in this day journal from Anne Gwynne.. Anne: It was a very traumatic day…I have been visiting families whose houses have been destroyed…whose family members have been murdered and imprisoned…there were ten massive explosions...(continued - please listen!)

8:05:35 PM PST
Leslie: That was Flashpoints special correspondent Anne Gwynne…While the overwhelming majority of representatives in Congress are “hawks,” there is one member who has consistently spoken out for peace and against the war in Iraq. Congressman Dennis Kucinich, Democrat of Ohio, is co-chair of the Progressive Caucus with Barbara Lee, and is running for President. His campaign has been called a “movement” campaign, because he is a true progressive visionary, offering a solid platform based on a new set of underlying principles. Among many other efforts, he has introduced legislation to establish a cabinet-level Department of Peace, and to ban space-based weapons. Last Saturday in Iowa, Dennis Kucinich was ranked #1 among Presidential candidates by the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, the most active and powerful Union in the Labor Movement. Congressman Kucinich will be arriving in California tomorrow, and I spoke with him earlier today from his office in Washington. I asked him about the role of corporate media, which has appeared to be denying him press coverage so far. (Interview follows…)

8:13:47 PM PST
Leslie: And Dennis Kucinich will be in the Bay Area this weekend…you can hear him at a National TeleConference Town Hall Meeting on Saturday, it’s called “Reclaiming Our Democracy,” at the Cowell Theater in Fort Mason Center in SF. For more info, please call (415)455-9502. He will also be at a rally at Lake Merritt at Grand Avenue and Lakeshore Avenue in Oakland. For more information, same number as above…and now we hear a short clip of Dennis Kucinich from a talk he gave here in the Bay Area during the invasion of Iraq… 14:40 Dennis Kucinich: Bombs…Bombs will not bring democracy to Iraq…(continued – please listen!)

8:17:39 PM PST
Dennis Bernstein: During the war and throughout the bombing, Kathy Kelly of Voices in the Wilderness was in Baghdad, bearing witness to the American invasion, and comforting those who our leaders chose to put in harm’s way…Here is Kathy Kelly’s speech (recently in Berkeley) preceded by my introduction…(Kathy Kelly’s speech – marvelous speech , please listen!)

8:38:50 PM PST
Dennis and Leslie: Break for Pledge Drive. Last day! Please show your support for Flashpoints and KPFA/Pacifica Radio by dialing (510) 848-5732 or (800) 439-5732. Stand up for Free Speech Radio!
