Knight Report: In today's Knight Report, Car Bombs in Turkey,

Increase Tenfold over Saddam's Regime under US Occupation.

Turkey
Bombings: Elaine Hagopian, Professor Emeritus of Sociology
at Simmons College in Boston. As George Bush and Tony Blair
continue their warm fireside chats in London amid raucous
anti-war protests, earlier today two car bombs ripped through
the Turkish capital of Istanbul, killing at least 27 people
and injuring over 400. Apparently aimed at British interests,
the bombings come at a time when severe opposition continues
to mount against the Anglo-American war in Iraq, and the so-called
global War on Terror. Associate Producer Nora Barrows-Friedman
speaks with Dr. Hagopian to help us get a sense of what happened
today in Turkey.
5:13 PM PST
Response from Turkish Consul General: Mr. Ansay, Consul General
to Turkey in LA. Following her discussion with Elaine Hagopian,
Associate Producer Nora Barrows-Friedman contacted the Turkish
Consul General in Los Angeles, Mr. Ansay, who provided a totally
different perspective on the bombings in Istanbul. When asked
about President Bush's hypocrisy in the face of global violence
and terrorism, the conversation ended abruptly.

Update on Depleted
Uranium and Troops Health:
Doug Rokke, Army Reserve Major, joins Dennis to continue discussion
in the ongoing investigation of the negative impacts of depleted
uranuium being used on the battlefield by US troops currently
in Iraq and Afghanistan. Doug Rokke started his military career
in 1967 in Vietnam, and was later tasked in 1990 as a theater
health physicist with the 3rd US Army Medical Command's Nuclear,
Biological and Chemical Warfare Special Operations and Teaching
Team. He was then reassigned to help supervise the cleanup
of depleted uranium after the first Gulf War. For more information:

US Detentions: Jenny Martinez, Attorney at Stanford School
of Law. The Bush Administration as a whole has seen fit to
gut the entire US Constitution as it continues its attack
on civil liberties here at home and across the globe. In news
from the Ashcroft [in]Justice Department, apparently civilians
listed as enemy combatants still have no right to trial or
even legal representation. Jose Padilla is a living example
of this country's misguided attempts to secure the world from
terrorists. A US citizen, Padilla was arrested and thrown
into the brig without charges and without access to a lawyer,
both blatant violations of the United States' Constitution,
or whatever is left of it. Joining Contributing Producer Solange
Echeverria to talk about the recent developments concerning
the Jose Padilla case is attorney Jenny Martinez, who represented
Mr. Padilla's cause in a recent court challenge.
