Today on Flashpoints:
Investigation into the Coverup of deadly post 9-11 pollution
on the streets of New York City. Food, Justice and Mobile
Groceries on the Block Report with JR.
5:01 PM PST
Kate Jenkins, 24 year veteran of the EPA states her personal
concerns and states not the official position of the EPA.
Her report focuses on 114 Liberty Street just south of Ground
Zero. On 9/11 this building had a hole in the front of the
building with several inches of dust throughout the building
floors. Residents cleaned up the dust in December of 2001.
In late 2003 EPA did their cleanup which she states failed
miserably. Residents independently hired a testing firm to
cross check the EPA
findings. The testing confirmed their suspicions of high
levels of silica (a known carcinogen) as well as above background
levels of asbestos. Meanwhile the White House and the National
Security Council issued instructions of an explicit coverup
and denial. Industry leaders now using the lowered 911 EPA
standards as a rational for reducing Superfund cleanup costs
and a stretched defense for asbestos liability to embedded
Haliburton. More info: nycosh.org
