New York City becomes a Police State as Cheney and Bush arrive
for the Republican Party Coronation. We'll talk about police
violence in this armed camp, and we'll talk about those most

I'm talking about the immigrants. Also we'll look at how the
Drug War paved the way to the Patriot Act. And the Knight
Report;

The Knight Report: School seizure near the Russian border
in Chechnya. Katmandu crowds rampage Muslim site after the
killing of 12 Nepalese hostages in Iraq. And at the Republican
National Convention in NYC, police arrest as many civilians
as the number of Americans soldiers the Bush Administration
has sacrificed in Iraq. And the true meaning of the elusive
but often publicized Republican Safety Net.

NYC 2004 or Chile 1973 ? Dennis Bernstein reports from Madison
Square Garden. George Bush and the Neocons have clearly moved
this country several steps closer to a Police State. Here
in NY I've faced such an array of Police Force and military
fire power it reminded me of Chile in 1973. Automatic weapons,
police dogs, tactical squads with helmets and shields and
tear gas canisters. It was not just a show of force, the police
are out of control in an intimidating way. Yesterday police
arrested over a 1000 people. Many of those arrests were brutal
and illegal. Live interviews and audio reports.
