Today on Flashpoints:
From Madison Square Garden, we spend most of the hour with
Robert Fisk, evaluating the merits of the Bush war policy
that the Republicans are so proud to run on; and an extended
edition of the Knight Report;
5:01 PM PST
Independent Perspective: Award-winning UK journalist and author
Robert Fisk, interviewed by Dennis Bernstein, discusses the
Bush track record and his failures at home and in the Middle
East. Also discussed is failure to discourage the use of torture
by US troops and Iraqi police as a consequence of the Bush
foreign policy gone awry; the deceptive shroud of the War
on Terror as an excuse to suppress opposition to US operations;
the use of fear tactics to gain support for the violence;
the failure of the US media to carry an accurate picture of
the catastrophe in Iraq and the Middle East.
We journalists, by our failure to tell the truth, and
our failure to point out that the Palestinians are the people
who are being occupied, whereas the Israelis are the people
who are doing the occupying, we contribute to the deaths
of innocent people; we have blood on our hands...

The Knight Report, Extended Edition: Arrests reach the same
level as deaths in Iraq, over 1,000. US soldiers are getting
injured and killed faster now than before the "End of
Hostilities". Detainees are shuffled between holding
facilities as a New York City judge fined the city $475,000
for police and administrative misconduct - about $1 for every
protester who marched on Sunday. Robert and Dennis also discuss
the redirection of Iraq reconstruction funds for US occupation
forces, the return of the Chalabis to Baghdad, and Tuesday's
rewriting of history by Arnold Schwarzenegger.
