Coverage of the NYC Demonstrations in NYC will be a production
of NYC's WBAI-Pacifica radio
(not a production of Pacifica National).
In anticipation of the RNC, United For Peace and Justice
will hold a march a in what may turn out to be one of the
largest and hardest fought demonstrations in the streets of
New York to date. Peace and Justice organization have gathered
in New York City from all over the world to march, as police,
riot control equipment, checkpoints, and helicopters have
an established presence throughout the city.
UFPG's has been denied a permit to hold a rally in Central
Park but will lead a march past Madison Square Garden (site
of the RNC). Many say they will converge at Central Park anyway.
WBAI's team will follow events as they unfold with their reporters
in the street and at the rally if it occurs. A release from
WBAI with specific schedule is pending. Coverage of events
in the street will be interspersed with in-studio analysis
on subjects such as Republican foreign policy in Latin America,
Africa, Asia/Pacific, civil liberties, and education.
