Story: House/Senate Hearings
House debate on a resolution authorizing the Bush administration's
use of force in Iraq continued today. Strong opposition came
from several representatives, including Wisconsin Democrat
Jerry Klecza [klek-za], who questioned the evidence that's
been offered as a justification for going to war.

Meanwhile, debate also began in the senate today. Republican
John Warner of Virginia said he feels ready for a vote, but
many others like Maryland Democrat Paul Sarbanes say they
need more time.

Senator Robert Byrd of West Virginia threatened to delay
the vote using procedural tactics.

Story: An Interview With Former CIA Analyst Mel Goodman
There are widespread media reports today that Bush exaggerated
the threat that Saddam Hussein poses to the US. And that CIA
experts predict an attack might provote Saddam to use terror
against the US.

Story: An Interview With The Spokesperson For The
French Foreign Ministry
Russia and France, both permanent members of the Security
Council with veto power, are rejecting the us proposal and
backing a proposal, in which Iraq would be given a chance
to cooperate with UN weapons inspections and the use of force
would be reserved for a second UN resolution if Iraq doesn’t
comply.
Tape: WPFW’s Ryme Katkhouda spoke with Francois Rivesseau,
spokesman for the French Foreign Ministry in Paris about France’s
position with regards to Iraq.
