When representatives in the House and the Senate voted overwhelmingly
to pass the Bush administration's resolution to attack Iraq,
they ignored the anti-war sentiments of the vast majority
of the American public. Many voters vowed to fight back at
the ballot box. On this eve of the 2002 mid-term elections,
what impact might the Iraq war resolution have on the overall
outcome? Pacifica's Political and National Affairs analyst

Story: BUSH'S ADMINISTRATION AND THE UN SECURITY
COUNCIL ON ATTACKING IRAQ
The Bush administration is trying once more to win the UN
Security Council votes of France, Russia and China, or at
least prevent a veto with yet another re-wording of a draft
resolution for weapons inspections in Iraq.

WAR ON IRAQ
While the country is getting ready to re-elect its officials,
anti-war activists are calling on voters to march to the polls
and the White House and to wear a red ribbons symbolizing
support of those few candidates who voted against Bush's war
resolution.

Story: ANTI-WAR DEMO IN BOSTON DRAWS 25 THOUSAND
PEOPLE
Huddled together in frigid temperatures carrying signs that
read: 'No Blood For Oil', an estimated 25-thousand protestors
rallied yesterday at Boston Common in Massachusetts. Howard
Zinn, professor Emeritus at Boston University was among the
speakers. He spoke of terrorism, calling war itself a form
of terrorism.

Story: IRAQ HOW CAN I FORGET THE SANCTIONS
The sanctions against Iraq continue despite impacts on the
civilian population nearing genocidal proportions. Barbara
Nimri Aziz of Pacifica station WBAI produced this report,
"Iraq: How Can I Forget?" five years after the start
of the blockade. It features excerpts of six Iraqi schoolgirls'
testimonies interwoven with poems and an Arab mother's comments
describe the effects of the sanctions. . . .
