Story: Hans Blix re: Iraq’s Weapons Report
United Nations weapons inspection chief Hans Blix reported
back to the UN Security Council today on his team's evaluation
of Iraq's 12,000 page weapons report. Speaking this morning
in a closed-door session, said that more inspections are needed
before Iraq can be given a clean bill of health. Blix briefed
reporters in New York after the session

Story: Syrian Ambassador Mikhail Wehbe Responds to
Iraq’s Weapons Report
Among the Security Council members at this morning's meeting,
Syria was conspicuously absent, after walking out in protest
of the Council's decision to release the full text to only
the five permanent members of the Council. Ambassador Mikhail
Wehbe expressed his disappointment to reporters at the UN,
asserting that it is impossible for Syria to fully assess
whether Iraq has complied with the provisions of UN resolution
because pertinent portions of the report have been excised

Story: John Negroponte US Ambassador to the UN re
Iraq’s Weapons Report
The US ambassador to the UN John Negroponte accused Iraq
of deliberately misleading the UN security Council, asserting
that the December 7th report “contains reams and reams
of material” that was submitted previously. Negroponte
goes on to claim that any omissions to the report are not
the result of error, but an attempt on the part of a rogue
nation to deceive the Security Council.

Story: Former Chief Weapons Inspector Scott Ritter
Analysis of IraqWeapons Report
In an interview on MSNBC former UN weapons inspector Scott
Ritter provided analysis of Iraq’s December 7th weapons
report to the UN. In contrast to other pundits Ritter, challenged
the assertion the Iraq should be considered guilty until proven
guilty.

Story: Ed Peck Calls for Greater resistance to War
Asserts Iraq is no Threat
The former Chief of Mission to Iraq, Edward Peck is critical
of the Bush administration’s seeming agenda to launch
an attack against Iraq. During a conversation with Peace Watch
yesterday Peck said Iraq is not the military threat to the
region that the U.S. portends. In part two of this discussion
with Peck he said Americans who oppose the war need to speak
up.

Story: Director of WI, Arms Control Project Gary
Milhollin blasts US Companies for selling arms to Iraq
Gary Milhollin, director of the Wisconsin Project on nuclear
Arms Control said that while it is not illegal for countries
to sell weapons to Iraq, it was however, questionable.

Story: Immigration Demo
"Hundreds of Men from five Muslim countries continue
to be detained by the Immigration and Naturalization Service
in Los Angeles after voluntarily coming in for registration
as mandated by new immigration guidelines. About 4,000 Iranian-Americans
demonstrated in front of the Westwood Federal building in
Los Angeles yesterday to protest the way their friends and
family have been mistreated at the hands of federal authorities.

As the U.S mobilizes for a new war against Iraq, refugees
