Story: US and Britain Intensify Bombing in Iraq
Monday marked the heaviest day of US-led bombing in Iraq
in the past year. The Washington Post reports that the US
and Britain are increasing the frequency and intensity of
such attacks and that they are continuing to add to the more
than 200,000 troops already stationed in the region. While
peace activists and UN diplomats look for ways to avert an
all-out war, David Eisenberg of the British American Security
Information Council says the US war plans are nothing new.

Story: Martin Luther King Drum Major speech
Monday is the day recognized annually to celebrate the birth
of the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., but today is the
actual date of his birth. In honor of this day Peace Watch
is bringing you the voice of Dr. King.

Story: Congressman John Conyers Author of MLK
Day Act
Dr. King’s words seem as relevant today as when first
uttered. They speak to the same fears and anxieties around
the Vietnam war that many are experiencing as we march toward
war with Iraq. Congressman John Conyers was responsible for
drafting the legislation that became the Martin Luther King
Holiday Act.

Story: Immigration and Naturalization Service Protest
Part 2
To commemorate Dr. King’s activist legacy, hundreds
of thousands of protestors of the war impending with Iraq,
are mobilizing to march on Washington DC this Saturday. Peacewatch
has compiled speeches given at a large protest rally in Los
Angeles last weekend to give you an idea of the range of voices
speaking out for peace.
