“War Within Weeks”
On Capitol Hill yesterday, Deputy Secretary of State Richard
Armatage responded to questions from Senators in the Foreign

British Parliamentarian Jeremy Corbyn Opposes War
United against Iraq, President Bush and British Prime Minister
Tony Blair reviewed possible timetables for diplomacy and
war today, despite calls by allies to give weapons inspectors
more time to disarm Iraqi President Saddam Hussein. The leaders,
buffeted by critics at home and abroad, hoped to come to terms
on how soon to abandon diplomacy for war if Iraq does not
disarm. They also were set to discuss a potential second and
final U.N. resolution against Saddam.
During a recent anti-war rally in Washington, British Parliament
member Jeremy Corbyn addressed the crowd of nearly 500,000
and stopped by the Pacifica broadcast booth for a discussion.
I asked him about the political cost to Blair in supporting
Bush’s war.

Part 2 of discussion with Author Greg Palast on Iraq,
Venezuela and Oil
While the US continues to build its armies in the Middle
East, preparing to resume its attack on Iraq, there is another
war going on much closer to home, in Venezuela, which up until
a few years ago, was considered an American ally. As a member
of OPEC, the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries,
when there was a shortage of oil production, we relied on
Venezuela to make up the difference. However, things have
changed in recent years.

“King George and the Administration of Fear”
By taking several of the President’s recent speeches
out of context, California artist Steve Craig put into context
what Bush has been pushing since 9/11, and that’s FEAR.

Poet Manifest Ra
Poet, peace activist and spiritual healer Manifest Ra offers
a rather unique solution to the impending war in Iraq. Ra
asserts that the power of the US and the world resides not
with the leaders, but with the people. He stopped Peacewatch’s
studies earlier this week and spoke of the need to organize.

Muslim Public Affairs Council Discusses Breakdown
of Civil Liberties
Los Angeles was the site of fierce protests after 700 Arab
and South Asian men were arrested early last month while appearing
for what was supposed to be a routine report to the Immigration
and Naturalization Service. Armando Gudino from Pacifica station
KPFK in Los Angeles presents this report on a recent meeting
of the Muslim Public Affairs Council, where civil liberties
were very much on the agenda.
