Story: Congress member Henry Waxman on Halliburton
contracts
The close connections of several senior members of the administration
to corporations that have received government contracts to
rebuild Iraq has drawn harsh criticism from leading Democratic
members of Congress. Among those corporations under fire is
Halliburton, Vice President Dick Cheney’s former company.
Recently, California Democratic Representative Henry Waxman
exposed new information regarding Halliburton's emergency,
no bid contract to rebuild Iraq’s oil wells. Waxman
spoke with Jerry Quickly of Pacifica station KPFK in Los Angeles…

Story: Part II of the Journey from Soldier to Conscientious
Objector
We bring you part two of a discussion with Anita Cole about
her journey from soldier to conscientious objector. Cole left
a lucrative career in public relations to fulfill what she
thought was her duty, to serve her country. During a routine
M-16 firing certification that she realized that killing was
wrong.

objector in November of 2001.

Story: Chip Berlet speech on civil liberties
The civil liberties of many Americans are still under attack,
according to Chip Berlet, a Senior Analyst for Political Research
Associates, and an expert on right-wing political movements.
He spoke last weekend at the University of Massachusetts in
Boston on the consolidation of knowledge between private and
government intelligence forces…

Investigations agent at the recent Federal Appreciation event
on the Mall here in the nation’s capitol…

Story: Dr. Helen Caldicott discusses the danger
of nuclear weapons
Speaking recently with KPFK’s Stephen Rohde, Dr. Helen
Caldicott discussed why she became an outspoken opponent of
nuclear weapons and how she plans to combat the corporate
control of the media, which she says prevents information
about the threat nuclear weapons and nuclear waste from getting
to the public.
