Families of 9/11 Victims Losing Faith in Bush
The President’s war on terrorism is losing its appeal
among some of the families who lost loved ones in the Sept.
11th attacks on the World Trade Center. Many are rapidly losing
faith in the Bush administration’s willingness to get
to the bottom of the terrorist attacks. Kristin Breitweiser
is the widow of Ronald Breitweiser who was working in Tower
2 on the 94th floor when the plane attacked the building.
Breitweiser and about a dozen other families had a rare face-to-face
meeting recently with FBI Director Robert Mueller.

who was killed in the 9/11 attack of the World Trade Center.

Greg Palast Sets The Record Straight Re: Cynthia
McKinney
Among the more outspoken critics of the Bush administration’s
handling of the 9/11 investigation is former Georgia Congresswoman
Cynthia McKinney, whose comments drew the ire of Right wing,
pro-Israel supporters of the war and led to a campaign to
oust her from her Congressional seat. That campaign was inevitably
successful.
In his recent book, The Best Democracy Money Can Buy, investigative
journalist Greg Palast uncovers scandal, corruption and lies
in the White House and corporate America, as well as what
he calls lies and allies in the corporate press regarding
the case of McKinney.
In an article published last week on the Alternet.org website,
entitled "The Screwing of Cynthia McKinney," Palast
writes:
Quote: "According to those quoted on National Public
Radio, McKinney's ‘a loose cannon’ who ‘the
people of Atlanta are embarrassed and disgusted’ by,
and she is also ‘loony’ and ‘dangerous...
McKinney implied that the [Bush] Administration knew in advance
about September 11 and deliberately held back the information."
“The New York Times' Lynette Clemetson revealed her
comments went even further over the edge: "Ms. McKinney
suggest[ed] that President Bush might have known about the
September 11 attacks but did nothing so his supporters could
make money in a war."
“Problem is, the quote from McKinney is a complete
fabrication. A whopper, a fabulous fib, a fake, a flim-flam.
Just freakin' made up.”End QUOTE
Mark Bebawi from Pacifica station KPFT spoke recently with
Palast about his article, and the information he uncovered.

Mustafa Barghouti, Head of National Political Initiative
Visits US
The Israeli army arrested 150 Palestinian activists in the
West Bank towns of Hebron and Nablus early today, which it
claimed had ties to Hamas. Meanwhile, the US envoy in Jordan
continued to push Israelis and Palestinians back to negotiation
talks after a weekend marred by violence.
Peacewatch spoke earlier this week with Mustafa Barghouti,
Palestinian leader of the National Political Initiative, and
we asked him what moves he’d like to see Israel take
to show that it’s an honest broker in the peace efforts.
Tape: Mustafa Barghouti is the Palestinian leader of the
National Political Initiative and the director of the Village
Medical Relief Committee. He spoke to Peacewatch earlier this
week.

Voices in the Wilderness co-founder Kathy Kelly on
living in Iraq during the bombing
Kathy Kelly, co-founder of the grassroots organization Voices
in the Wilderness, returned recently from Iraq, where she
stood by ordinary Iraqis during what she calls the "U.S.
slaughter." She also befriended young American Marines,
many of who were on the front lines in Basra and Baghdad.
Kelly discussed her experiences recently with Sue Supriano,
host of the radio program “Stepping Out of Babylon.”

Historian Howard Zinn Speaks at Teach-In at Washington,
DC
The congress of the United States is holding closed hearings
on intelligence regarding weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.
Questions have arisen about how this intelligence was used
to justify the US' invasion of Iraq. Several weeks after the
end of major hostilities in Iraq, no weapons of mass destructions
have been found.
Howard Zinn, historian and author of The People's History
warned participants at a Peace Teach-in Washington, DC, recently
that if we don’t know our history, we can easily be
deceived.

History, speaking at a Peace Teach-in held in Washington,
DC recently by United for Peace and Justice
